Kuanysh A. Yergaliyev was born in East Kazakhstan region in 1982.
In 2000, he graduated with honors from boarding school for gifted children in Kostanay city. He was awarded a bronze medal at the International Biology
Olympiad among high school students.
In 2006, Dr.Yergaliyev graduated from Kazakh National Medical University in Almaty, Kazakhstan. During his student years, he was a president of student government. He pursued a Master’s Degree in Public Health (2009) at Tulane University School of Public Health which was followed by earning the degree of Doctor of Public Health at Harvard T.H.Chan School of Public Health in 2019.
In 2013, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business from Karaganda Economic University of Kazpotrebsoyuz. He has begun his career as a paramedic at the emergency medical services in Almaty.
Prior to studying at Harvard University, Kuanysh Yergaliyev worked at the Department of Integrated Academic Health Systems in Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan) and held various administrative positions at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Dr. Yergaliev is a co-founder and current President of Harvard Chan Qualitative Methods Student Club. Moreover, he is a co-founder and current President of Miras Boston Kazakh Cultural Foundation which aims to meet the cultural and social needs of Kazakh people in the Greater Boston Area. He is married and has two children. He speaks Kazakh, Russian and English languages.
Dr. Yergaliyev is an author of a number of scientific papers in the field of health.
